Discounted Shows For A Year: The Chase Card For Concertgoers

Though concert ticket prices have been slowly declining, Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders can score multiple free shows each year.

The card offers two statement credits annually for Stubhub and Viagogo purchases, making it the ideal choice to use for booking your next night at the theater, arena tour concert or comedy show.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve® underwent a summer glow-up, with Chase adding a plethora of new benefits—including a $300 annual StubHub and Viagogo credit. While this an ideal perk for a live music, StubHub and Viagogo’s ticket offerings don’t stop at concerts. The platforms cover all kinds of live entertainment offerings, including sports games, theater productions and comedy shows.

With the revamp comes the upping of the card’s annual fee, from $550 to $795. While this does place the card among the pricier options in the market, Chase has been hard at work packing in new benefits to make the updated fee worthwhile.

Cardholders can activate the $300 StubHub and Viagogo credit through the Chase website or mobile app. The credit is split into two $150 statement credits, with the first available to use between January 1 and June 30 and the other between July 1 and December 31. After making a qualifying purchase on StubHub or Viagogo using their Chase Sapphire Reserve card, the statement credit is automatically applied to the cardholder’s account.

The $300 credit also renews each year through December 31, 2027.

The Perk Might Be More Valuable Than You’d Expect

In 2024, the average price of a concert ticket sat around $136, according to Pollstar.

On ticket resale platforms like StubHub and Viagogo, ticket prices aren’t set and may rise or fall depending on the demand for the show, timing and sometimes luck. Scalpers often list tickets on resale sites for exorbitant prices soon after a show announcement to capitalize off buyer panic.

Waiting to purchase a resale ticket until the show inches closer might save you money, depending on if demand for it isn’t staunch. How each cardholder decides to spend their $300 annual credit is up to them, but with strategic timing, the credit can stretch further and cover more shows.

To sweeten the deal, new Sapphire Reserve cardholders can also earn an elevated welcome offer of 100,000 bonus points, plus a $500 Chase Travel℠ promo credit after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. The offer on this page ends at 9 a.m. ET on August 21, 2025. For those who want to turn their show ticket spending into rewards for a getaway, the Chase Ultimate Rewards® points from this offer can help cover a flight or hotel booking. Or if you’re still concert-crazy, these points can also be redeemed for cash back, perfect for building out your budget for the next presale.

Bottom Line

The Reserve’s high annual fee might be a dealbreaker for some, but for frequent travelers and concertgoers, it can be a no-brainer. However, consumers should scour through the card’s perks to determine if it provides enough value for its cost before applying.
